:vim is :vimgrep. This will not be changed due to backwards compatibility.
You can use cnoreabbrev/cnoremap to make an alias yourself like in e.g.
http://stackoverflow.com/questions/3878692/aliasing-a-command-in-vim/3879737#3879737
(replace “\<W\>” with “vim” and “\<w\>” with “edit”).
