I tried this with vim 7.4.320 and netrw v153i and was unable to duplicate
the problem. I used the following command:
vim -u netrw.vimrc .
along with the file <netrw.vimrc>, which has two lines:
set nocp
so $HOME/.vim/plugin/netrwPlugin.vim
Please try this on your mac using the vimrc file as shown.
