This is a regression introduced somewhere after 7.4.944.
This error occurs when opening a file and when:
let g:netrw_browse_split = 3 " <cr> open file in new tab
Error message:
Error detected while processing function <SNR>27_NetrwBrowseChgDir:

E121: Undefined variable: b:netrw_curdir
