Try ":syn sync minlines=100". If that doesn't do it you may need to increase "100" to "200" or something. These kind of questions may be more appropriate for the vim_use mailing list (indeed, if my suggestions doesn't work then you should probably post to that list instead and you'll be sure to get a better answer).
