FWIW, I've seen the same thing recently (and a couple of out-and-out
MacVim crashes while I'm in another program(!)). I'd put it down to
having a very large .vimrc and a *lot* of plugins so am in the midst of
a long-overdue cleanup of both ~/.vimrc and what's in ~/.vim. Will
report back if I can manage to make it do it again.
