Hm. Works for me with gvim 7.2.25 on openSUSE Linux 11.0, and has always worked for me, but also I always had the display, keybopard and binary on a single machine: either gvim for windows displaying on Windows, or gvim for X11 (gtk1 or kde or Gnome2) displaying on Linux.
