I'm curious: why did you choose to keep the configuration separate to
the vim configuration?  I would find this really awkward to use as I
keep all plugins and their configuration (and a few helpers like ctags
binaries and suchlike) in the vimfiles directory, which makes it easy
to synchronise (with subversion) over multiple (Linux & Windows)
computers.  Having a (presumably) necessary configuration file outside
of .vim/vimfiles means that these settings don't get transferred.
