...assuming, of course, that the message is not an obvious spam. As 
described below, if you (or anyone) tried to get a new subscription in 
order to spam the list, _that_ first post's chance of ever reaching the 
list would be zero, zilch, nada, nitchevo. :-) Thanks John and Raúl for 
keeping the list clean!

Yeah I know. I report every spam I get using SpamCop if I see it less 
than eight hours after it lands on the Web, thus contributing to closing 
the spammer's account (depending on how his ISP treats SpamCop messages) 
and to putting or keeping his IP address on the SpamCop blocking list 
(which anyone can use, including you if you're on Windows using any mail 
client and install SpamPal with the DNSBL plugin), yet I still get tens 
of spam messages every day, most of which are caught by SeaMonkey's 
bayesian filters; and this doesn't include the hundreds of daily spam 
caught by my Gmail account (which is only one of my accounts, but it has 
the advantage of holding spam server-side for 30 days before deleting 
it, thus allowing me to retrieve false positives).
