I sort of wish it worked that way (as it would make block changes to
background color with Txtfmt (The Vim Highlighter) look a bit nicer),
but that's not how it works. Background color applies to text only. If
you're familiar with MS Word, it's analogous to "Text Highlight
Color", not "Shading", which is what you really want.
