Hi,

     syntax/2html.vim

will take a text file and apply VIM's syntax highlighting and save it

Is there something that will convert directly to a PDF file? Right
now, I am converting to an HTML file and then converting that into
PDF. Is there a more direct way to do this?

Thanks in advance.

I don't think so -- or if there is, it doesn't come with Vim. You may try to search the "scripts" at http://www.vim.org/ but the way you're already doing it is what I would have recommended anyway (less risk of unsuspected bugs).
