Well, there's the histget() function, so I'd expect there's a way with lots of
tricky vimscript.
However, how about using the command-line window:
- in the middle of typing your ":" command, press ctrl-f
- press /, and scroll up to the search you want
- press enter, and the command window will be searched, and hopefully fail
- press a ctrl-r /
