Thanks - that was the problem. I ran scriptnames as Bram suggested and it showed _vimrc followed by vimrc_example.vim and then defaults.vim. I moved from Vim 7.4 to Vim 8.0 and then soon to the 80-069 version. I see now from documentation that defaults.vim was introduced in Vim 8.0, which explains why I didn't face this problem earlier. Just to clarify, most of the defaults work fine for me, except the value of scrolloff. I have reverted it back to zero in my vimrc now. -- -- You received this message from the "vim_use" maillist.
