Dear Vintage Mac folks,

I apologize, but I hoped someone had a battery compulsion and had
learned all things great and small when the PRAM in the Mac Av 4.6 or
so died. I was going to ride their information.

But, what is interesting is that one suggestion on the web, and I saw
this twice in different places, was that if the pram in a Pismo goes
bad, take out the large battery and keep the Pismo plugged in for 12
to 24 hours. IT worked. The Pram I guess gets too low and the
circuits that control those things won't let a charge go to it if the
main battery is in.

Now, I am in search of a Lombard powerbook because I read that if
your primary (large battery) is dead and won't recharge in a Pismo,
then you can put that battery into a Lombard and re-set it and then
recharge it. NO one knows why Apple had the battery resettable, the
same battery, in a Lombard but not in a Pismo.

So, the generalization to this list for me, owning several working
old Mac Quadra 660AVs, is what odd ball unexpected things have people
found on those or similar machines that save you big bucks?

By using that one suggestion on the PRAM Pismo battery, I save 28-32
dollars and about 5 days of time.

Thank you all for your suggestions.

P.S. Is anyone using a Mac Quadra 660 AV as a server or front end
for a more recently built machine? Please let me know how you do it.
