Hey Sollus,
The LC II aka Performa 400-430 features a 16MHz 68030 Processor
with 4MB of ram on board. You can (and should) upgrade the RAM to max
10MB with a PAIR of 100NS 30-pin SIMMS. You can use 1, 2 and 4MB SIMMS
and they MUST be installed in pairs. This system will only address up
to 10MB of ram. You could also upgrade the VRAM SIMM to 512Kb (system
comes with 256Kb). The highest system software you can install on this
system is 7.6.1, but most say the fastest for this system is 7.0.1.
However, if you don't have system 7.0.1 on disks, you can download
system 7.0.3 from Apple at
http://download.info.apple.com/Apple_Support_Area/Apple_Software_Updates/English-North_American/Macintosh/System/Older_System/System_7.5_Version_7.5.3/
. Each file in that directory is a 1.2 Mb disk image, so you will have
to write each image to a floppy disk. Hope this helps! Let me know if
you need more help.
