It's quite possible to network/internet a Plus. The best way is a SCSI to Ethernet adapter. This lets you plug it straight into a hub/switch. From there, there are various apps that should run fine. Early Netscapes, MacLynx, telnet, and early versions of ircle if you're into chat should run fine. If you wanted to go the serial route, you'll probably need a copy of something like ipnetrouter. This would probably be the easiest and cheapest route if you already have the cabling. It might be a little slower than the direct ethernet route, but I rather suspect that transfer rate won't be the bottleneck in trying to internet with a system like that. As for system software, you'll be a lot better off with System 6.0.8, or 7.1 at the latest. Most anything that would be *useful* on the Plus ought to run fine on 6.0.8, and it's a far sight faster on 68000s too. You aren't going to need to be terribly worried about apps included with either system, as nothing comes with either that's too difficult either to find equivalents that will run, or aren't really all that useful anyway. If you want to go all out, there's a web server or two that'll run on it, but that's just for totally insane people :) Scott --~--~---------~--~----~------------~-------~--~----~ You received this message because you are subscribed to the Vintage Macs group.
