You don't state whether or not it's an Apple drive. Most 3rd party drives, IIRC, didn't work with the Apple driver and you needed something else. The (Adaptec at the time) Toast CD driver was a popular choice. It covered a lot of models.
I love the Q605. Put a full '040 in it and it's an awesome small Mac.
