Hey Ken,
You are very, very lucky my friend. I happen to have a complete copy
of Apple Share Server 3.0. I collect vintage Mac (and some Win 3.1)
software, and I consider this item quite rare. I used to be a Network
Administrator for a school district many years ago, and one day I was
looking through a file cabinet of software that time had forgotten. And
there is was, at the bottom of a dusty file cabinet, buried by boxes of
mostly un-incredible softwar -- a mint copy of AppleShare server 3.0 in
the box with all accompanying documentation. It shined like gold and
beckoned to me: "Change my destiny! Rescue me from eternity in a land
field!" And of course, I did.
I love old software and have quite a collection, and wouldn't part
with any of it, especially that, for all the money in the world. So
obviously, if you are after an original copy, I can't help you. What I
can do however, is upload a SIT to my FTP server which contains images
of all four disk in DiskCopy 6 format -- in exchange for a small favor
in return. What kind of vintage software do you have? If you wouldn't
mind throwing a few disk images, or just the installers themselves, into
a SIT and uploading it to my FTP server (I'll give you a temporary
login). Just send me a list of some or all of the commercial vintage
software you have, and I'll pick a couple out. I think that's quite
fair, and it beats the heck out of $10.00 and waiting for days on the
post, right?
I have been in the exact position you are in now, needing to network
boot my IIGS from a Mac, only difference was the other machine in my
case was an SE/30. AppleShare server will do the trick; it has a disk
just for Apple II's and everything, plus it's just really cool. I can
help you with the process if you run into trouble, but I doubt you will.
Like everything Apple makes, it's easy to use and generally operates
without failure.
Let me know if you are interested in my offer. Even if you don't have
any vintage software that I would be interested in, I'm a reasonable guy
and am more then willing to help you out.
PS: If you still have a copy of ADTPro, I may be interested in that.
Take Care,
Dylan
