Are you using 800K disks, or 1.44Mb disks? That could cause a problem since the Plus will only read 800K disks. Ken suggusted cleaning it out, which would probably help too... An air compressor or a can of compressed air (not quite sure what those are called?) should clear it out sufficiently.
