Go to the Apple Symbol un the upper left-hand corner.
Select -->Control Panels --> TCP/IP
The TCP/IP panel should be set to Ethernet, Using DHCP server, everything else 
is automatic, with the ip address "supplied by the DHCP server"

You have a dynamic IP rather than a static one, yes?
