This was the first computer I ever had. I think you will find you need a 4.5 Volt Ray-o-Vac Battery. It is about 1" square. They are still available over the internet, but somewhat expensive. On the rear of the unit you should find two push down latches at the top, which when you push down the back will come down (just a piece of plastic). You then remove two screws. There is a metal wire handle you grab hold of and just pull the logic board right out of the machine. You will see the SIMMs and the battery right there. The battery is attached with Velcro, and an electrical connector. I have the PDF manual for this model if you want me to email it to you, just ask.
