Well, I don't think that an existing external SCSI port implies an internal SCSI port as well, but I know that that G3, a desktop one, actually has an internal SCSI port. It also has a built-in floppy drive and even a ZIP drive. This way I obviously can create some disks for my SE. The reason for thinking about an SE used as a external hard drive was, I have no torx screw driver. I figured out a way to open the case using a phillips screw driver but I don't know If I could damage the original torx screws. Maybe I can replace them with two "normal ones". But now I think, that it would be better to create a floppy disk containing Lido or a patched Apple SC HD Setup version to format the hard drive built-in to the Macintosh SE. Notice: The SE's hard drive is a non-Apple one, because the original mini scribe died soon after having received the SE. > Is there a way to write Mac floppies from images on a PC? Well no. My SE has just a 800k floppy drive. The problem is, that the old 800k floppy drives are not exactly the same as the old PC compatible ones. The difference is, that the Macintosh's floppy drive can increase its speed depending on which sector is going to be accessed. It's absolutely impossible to teach the PC floppy drive doing so. Btw. I have a MacBook Pro and an external USB Floppy drive. (^.^) I have already found a solution for getting an operating system on that SE -> using my Power Macintosh G3. I appreciate cracking your brains. I was just thinking about a way mounting the SE's HD to the G3's SCSI bus which would make putting System 7.5.5 on the SE a heck of a lot easier. Thanks a lot! -- Alex PS: Btw. are there any German System 6 disk images out there in the internet? --~--~---------~--~----~------------~-------~--~----~ You received this message because you are subscribed to the Vintage Macs group.
