IWM supports GCR. 1.44/800 required SWIM, which supports both MFM and GCR. When you order a II to IIx conversion kit, or a SE to SE/FDHD conversion kit, you get a SWIM to replace the original IWM, and you also get a replacement set of ROMs. It is your choice to install one or two 1.44 drives. In my II to IIx I have one 800 and one 1.44. At one point, support was deleted for the 400 drive, is it requires phase leads and other functions which are not provided by SWIM. Reading from a 400 may have been retained, but writing to one was not. --~--~---------~--~----~------------~-------~--~----~ You received this message because you are a member of the Vintage Macs group.
