A MO drive would be pretty slow for a boot drive, even the ones that can do
single pass writing (LIMDOW). They're not designed for constant random
read/write operation, though they are plenty fast enough at reading to play
video.

Syquest drives are hard drives with removable platters. I used an old 44 meg
5.25" one for a while. The early 88 meg Syquest drives could only use 88 meg
disks, or couldn't *write* to 44 meg disks.
