Its nice with the 1MB VRAM to be able to get 1280x1024 resolution in

But still the only time I used it daily was the summer I was hooked on
SimCity. I guess the old 500series powerbooks are just too
attractive ...

Have you the cache card for the 475 ?

I should do the overclocking at least.

I just last week received a 1MB VRAM upgrade for mine, although I run it at 1024x768 at 256 colors. Also lets me run the MI/X X Server nicely, it refuses to run at 16 colors.

I mostly use it for IRC. SSH into my linux box and use screen + irssi. I had been using a Mac Classic for the same thing, but the lack of color and small screen finally got to me. From there I went to a IIci attached to a 19" LCD, and then the 475. I also do some web browsing, between iCab and Netscape 4 with Javascript and Stylesheets turned off it's actually somewhat functional. With the X Server, I've even managed Firefox and such pretty decently.

I currently have it overclocked to 33mhz and a real full 68040 in it. It once ran Linux and served as my mail and web server (until a Quadra 840AV took over that duty) and it runs well.

I don't have the cache card, but even if I had one I'd rather have the ethernet card in it. Far more useful. Shame no one ever made a splitter/pass through PDS connector for it like the IIsi and SE/30, not that you'd ever get the case closed.

Incidentally, I also have a Powerbook 520c sitting on top of it, but the passive matrix screen is enough of a downer to make me not really enjoy using it even if I love the keyboard. Also have a Q605 that has capacitor problems that makes it have no sound, and an LCIII that works nicely. I love the pizzaboxes, although I have too many of these darn old Macs now that I'm not sure what to do with them all :)
