At this point, I have done the following:

1. Swapped the 6500 motherboard out with an original 580-630 series
board, which I have a couple of laying around. Got chimes and the
video came on - thus proving that the problem is somewhere on the
motherboard. Of course the 580-630 series board did not boot
correctly, since those boards can't run OS 9.1, which is what I have
installed. But the viseo did come on.

2. Removed all the toys (i.e. the G3 accelerator card and the USB/
Firewire combo card), but left all RAM in place. Also zapped the
PRAM. Got chimes but no video.

3. Removed each of the two RAM sticks separately and tried again each
time. Still no luck.

4. Since the 580-630 series board had worked "correctly," I assumed
that its PRAM battery was okay, and plugged that one into the 6500
board. Still no luck.

Having gone thru this sequence, I am pretty much left to conclude that
the problem is on the 6500 motherboard, not on any of the RAM or other
cards. Can anybody think of anything else before I turn to the LEM
swap list for a new motherboard?
