Ok, I've done every reasonably simple fix. That is, removing all the board connectors, carefully cleaning them. Cleaning the edge connectors on the SIMMs. I tested voltage at the floppy port as per the instructions Thomas Lee's excellent Classic Mac Tech Docs 2.0. Perfectly in spec and stable. 12.09/5.04v where the voltages belong. If I fire up the Mac, sometimes it will run for hours, sometimes minutes before it locks up. If I cycle the power after it locks up, I get a low buzzing sound and the classic 'simasi' Mac pattern. If I wait for some amount of time she will fire back up. Suggesting an overheating resistor or bad cap(s)? Is there a common cap (I understand C1 is a high failure one) or resistor I can replace and be reasonably confident that might be the problem?
Thanks again everyone for your help. It definitely helped me to troubleshoot the screen blacking out/smack on the side issue. Removing and cleaning the connector on the analog board did the trick. No problems there anymore. -- ----- You received this message because you are a member of the Vintage Macs group.
