The Acard AEC-7720U is a SCSI to IDE Bridge which would allow you to put an IDE optical drive into a SCSI enclosure (provided there's room for the adapter in the enclosure). However, while these adapters were available on Ebay for about $40 some years ago, they now typically cost $100 or more. New ones from Acard are $249, ouch.
