And that's why compressed backups in proprietary formats are often a bad idea. Good luck pulling anything out of the backup years later, especially if you haven't managed to preserve the system that made the backup. What would be nice is if some company would produce an affordable LTO drive for desktop computers. Linear Tape Open is the only thing out there that can backup the largest single hard drives to a single piece of media, without compression.
