I've finally done it, but it wasn't pretty . . . 1. Download the .sit file on modern mac running lion. 2. Put onto USB zip drive. 3. Open zip drive under [k]ubuntu 4. find program called "unstuff" from an old discussion (google search) 5. cd to the hfs formatted zip drive 6. use "./unstuff -m=auto the_download.sit" 7. dd if=the_download.sit of=/dev/fd0 8. open on the old mac
YES! Then: Discover that SUM Recover won't do a bloody thing without the first disk. Ransack another room and, against all odds, discover Disk 1. Think ahead, and use norton floppier to duplicate disk 1--it's a19 year old archive, after all . . . Norton finds many bad sectors. Disk fails verify! Stick it in, and it's still not a mac disk.
