I am *so* close, and still not quite there! I have an old SuperCard 1.5 stack I need to import into LiveCode on the Mac Classic, which has no network capacity. (Supercard 1.5 is on the machine, and the stack works).
I have successfully read it into SuperCard 4.7's import facility (actualy creating a supercard 4.5 file), but supercard lacks livecode's cross-platform abilities. I have a modern iMac, but even if it had a diskette, lion won't write to HFS, which is all the Classic can understand (right?). I'm using a usb zip drive and a HFS+ formated disk to go back and forth between the iMac and Linux. I'm crudely using hfsutils and hcopy to moves files back and forth, but haven't found a reliable way to keep mac identities. I've managed to install Compact Pro 1.51 on the Classic. I've found a .sit (and the resulting images) for SuperCard 1.6. LiveCode has a SuperCard Stack that should work under 1.6 and maybe 1.5 to export, and then another to convert it in. The problem is in getting funcitonal files back and forth between the macs. If I could get the conversion stack to the Classic as a mac file, I might be able to convert, then make a hqx of the result, and send it to the iMac. If I could read the 800k image files for SuperCard 1.6, I could convert the old stack, then move (how?). Somehow, on one of my passes yesterday, I got my stack to the iMac preserving enough that SuperCard's own conversion program (to 4.5 or 4.7) could read it--an it overwrote it with the conversion! It seems to me that I ended up using a "-m=auto" option, which is not present in the hfsutils (and I hadn't installed macutils on that machine yet). I'm stumped. I'm obviously very close, but I can't quite get there. If I had a 68k mac that both had a network connection and a diskette, I'd be done! (I do have something that I think is a 601 era PPC machine, model M3076, and a monitor, but no cable). Suggestions? -- The Hawkins Law Firm Richard E. Hawkins, Esq.
