Hi Dylan, Thanks for the info. So you're saying that that "frankenstein" Mac Plus could have been an earlier model at some point? Cool! Is there any way to see what it originally was? Might there be some serial number or production date inside, maybe on the analog board somewhere?
As for the Mac 128k with the upgrade, I have removed both upgrades. Yes, the internal drive is an 800k. However, your point about the Mac Plus ROMs is a bit interesting. Without the upgrades, the Mac 128k boots normally to the desktop from a 128k system disk, even from the internal 800k drive, which is a bit odd. However, once the system disk is put in and the computer is booted, any other disk that is inserted is not recognized by the Mac, and it asks to initialize it. Also, when the 800k drive is disconnected, an external 400k drive can be used, but with the 800k connected, external 400k drives don't work. -- -- ----- You received this message because you are a member of the Vintage Macs group.
