My memory ain't what it was when I was very active in Old Mac
refurbishing. Be that as it may, set the "TERM" jumper, Jumper the CD to
SCSI ID 3, and hope you have the Apple CD driver that likes non-Apple CD
ROMS. Or update to the version that does. Or, find and use FWB CD ROM
Tool Kit with the extension that covers a lot of non-Apple drives.

The first download here http://lowendmac.com/daystar/download/software/upgrades_604/

It's a FAT version so it supports 68k and PPC and works perfectly with 7.x through 9.2.2. It also supports CD changers and jukeboxes.

There's also two downloads for older versions of Hard Disk Toolkit.

Version 4 was their last and best, if you can find a copy of that you're set for anything you want to do on old Macs, including setting up a RAID 0 array split between the internal and external SCSI busses in a 601 PowerMac, which is the only way to have storage fast enough to capture best quality video with Media100 or other old hardware.
