I have a Quadra 700 that will not boot. It had always booted Ok and the problem originated when I had a zip drive connected and it then failed to boot and has not booted since even with the zip drive disconnected.
The internal hard-drive is not a conventional Mac variety but a PC type SCSI drive with its ID set at number 6 and not the usual Mac ID. The zip drive in question has a slide switch to select an ID between two options numbers 5 and 6. I can only assume that this switch is faulty and that when I tried to set it to number 5 it was really set at number 6, hence the ID conflict between the Quadra's hard-drive and the zip drive. I had hoped it would start as normal afterwards but it still stubbornly refuses to boot up. Anyone with any ideas please? -- -- ----- You received this message because you are a member of the Vintage Macs group.
