Welll, to start with, IBM created the 5150 PC, and
it was good. :) They followed up with the XT, then
the AT. Compaq beat IBM to the punch with the first
386. After that, the PC market exploded with hundreds
of "system integrators" making their own branded
boxes. Then the components companies got the idea
to sell to absolutely anyone so they could build
their own custom PC clone.

Packard Bell, Compaq, HP, Dell and Gateway all
adopted an Apple Performa like scheme of giving
the same basic computer different names or numbers
based on the base configuration of CPU, RAM,

So to answer your question, pick a number, any
number. That number is most likely too small.
