Hmmmm...

Uh, i don't want to sound totally stupid. Firstly, i want to thank everyone
who contributed suggestions for solutions to the problem i've been having
with my external scsi2 drive. I have tried them all and my IIci still wants
to boot from the external drive. No matter what i do. I've even tried
invoking the spirits of particularly unpleasant ancestors. Nothing is
working. Could there be some incompatibility with the type of scsi or drive?
I'm running 7.5.3 on this machine. Pretty much a stock installation. No
hacks or cleaver personalizations. I've changed the scsi id on the external
drive, i've tried booting with different key combinations. Whatever. Nothing
has worked yet. The drive works very well with my PB1400. One thing that i
found interesting was that when i boot from floppy, neither the internal nor
external hd are detected.

What could be going on here?
