OK, didn't you say it worked on a PC with a SCSI controller? If so, and that controller has its own BIOS, use it to see if the drive can be low level formatted.
I've run into the problem many times where something happens to a drive on a Mac that fouls it up so bad no Mac formatting utility will touch it. Low level format it with the Adaptec 2940 in my PC and it works on the Mac. If you also use FDISK on the PC and make it FAT16 then format it, the Mac should simply offer to initialize it to HFS. :) Doesn't take long since the basic structures of FAT16 and HFS are so close. ===== "Work it harder make it better do it faster makes us stronger.
