Yep. The problem for non-UNIX people comes when there is no package for their version of UNIX, or there are needed bug fixes and the release is not yet available pre-built for their system. Mostly though, GhostScript just requires you to read a little bit, and then building it is mostly time consuming, not difficult. The CUPS project has links to an integrated GhostScript/Gimp-print source tree which is easier to build. It is called espgs.
