What you have is actually a Fujitsu M2513 or M2513A with Philips OEM firmware. See this page. http://home.freeuk.net/markk/MO/index.html The A version spins the disk at a faster speed. The drive can also use LIMDOW media at least in the 640 megabyte capacity for faster writing speed. Most versions of this drive are read/write compatable with 128 meg, 320 meg and 540 meg media but early versions could not write 128 meg media. This document covers the M2513A2 and M2513A6 http://www.fel.fujitsu.com/support/mo/manuals/cat4_si_3.pdf (Warning! 4.3 megabyte file!) http://mo.fujitsu.com/global/ The best thing to do is open the thing up and look on the drive itself (if it's in an external case) and see exactly what version of M2513 it is, or if it actually is one of that line and not some other brand someone swapped in when the original failed. I've only ever had one MO drive fail and it was a 3.5" full height 128 meg Ricoh drive. Of course it suddenly decided it needed to stop working right when I was pressed for time needing to backup files off a Mac that was needing a totally clean reinstall. :P Fujitsu is simply the best for MO drives. At least they are still making them and still have info and software available for Mac and Windows. Curiously, their English/Global site claims the M2513A and later will not work with the classic Mac OS, but ISTR connecting mine to a Mac and it worked just fine before I installed it in my PC. ===== "When you are wrestling for possession of a sword, the man with the handle always wins."
