BootP can be set to assign a "range" of one IP to a specific MAC address. (MAC = Media Access Controller.) Then you can manually set the MacTCP IP address to the same one as the BootP server has "assigned". As far as the BootP server is concerned, it's in control. I think OT-Tool from www.neon.com will tell you the MAC address of your Mac.
