Hey folks- Thanks for the input. As I suspected, there doesn't appear to be anything wrong with my hardware.
By "upgrading" to System 6.08 from 7.1, I seem to have eliminated all the symptoms I have been experiencing as far as the aforementioned startup troubles go. 6.08 is faster than 7.1, but it won't access my full 17MB of RAM. anybody have a suggestion to rememdy this that will work with MultiFinder? Optima doesn't work with MultiFinder, which is my most-used mode of operation.
