Hey Jodi of J&J,
Randy's suggestion reminded me of what we did with our two kids (boy and
girl). Sandie and I bought two tents (Eureka 5' X 7') and told both kids
they could invite a friend. Each did and we decided four kids wasn't much
different from two kids. We rented two canoes - one for girls and one for
guys. There were other adjustments (i.e. a larger dining fly), but nothing
significant. Fringe benefit was Sandie and I had the Airstream to ourselves
at night. Not that we got any more sleep, but at least we could hold hands
and snuggle without four kids giving us flak.
What's my point? There are many ways to be adaptable and each family works
them out on the basis of their needs.
What do the kids remember? "See that Airstream? It's ours and we go
everywhere with it. Do you want to come with me next weekend? My parents
like having extra kids come along. We'll have our own tent and my mother
fixes breakfast for us."
