Hi Bob Basques, 1 - You asked: "Query, should I just replace the old cover with the newer covers without the skylight cut into them (easiest) or can someone talk me into cutting the new or repairing the old covers with new plastic covers (slightly harder, and most likely much more time consuming than I envision)." Why not do the easiest first and save the time consuming one for later? By then, you will know if you really, really want more light from that area of the ceiling. Plus, by then, you may have been to an International rally flea market and bought a used one with unbroken plastic for $10. Then you can sell your new ones for $20+ and lay in a bonus supply of cold brew. 2 - You asked: "On a separate note, does anyone have dimensions for Fluorescent lights that might fit into these three-way switch designs of the ceiling lights/fans." In our '86, there are two fluorescent lights around each overhead vent and enclosed in the plastic diffuser (lamp cover). They are attached to a square aluminum frame about 1.5 inches wide (about 14" X 14" inside measurements) which is attached to the ceiling. We're the second owners of this Airstream so the aluminum frame and ballast configuration may or may not have been standard. When the day comes that I must replace the ballast on one of these, I'll be searching for an identical replacement. If you beat me to it, then I'll be asking you for the source. In the meantime, Charlie Burke may have that information in his vast memory of parts available from Airstream. If your rain leaks are merely overflow from the lamp cover, you're golden. Have you given the floor a good poke test with your awl? If it's solid everywhere, you're good to go. Place your right hand over your left shoulder and raise it up and down rapidly, while repeatedly saying, "Good choice" and nodding your head in the affirmative. Applause, applause for you, Terry
