Hi Michael,

I've heard of someone (probably on this list) who made a platform out of
plywood that bridged the gap between the twins, which could be set up at
night and stored during the day.   I think they screwed 1x2" rails on the
edge of each twin to support the platform.  An extra cushion or cushions
matching the height of your existing ones would be needed to fill the gap,
and could be stored on the beds in the daytime for back support when using
the bed as a couch.  Since this blocks the center aisle while in use, you
might find it unusable, but if that's not a problem for you, it's a
relatively easy solution.
