Hi Pearl,
In your note, you asked:
>Am I getting thru?
>trailer unplugged for over month
>should I plug in to keep batteries up
>solar panels in shade so not working
> Pearl Main>
===============
Pearl my love, come sit beside me while I share an
example. Six months every winter for the last ten
winters, two of our Airstreams (with solar panels)
have been out doors and not in a direct path of
the
sun (north side of a building). Each Spring, when
we
return the batteries are fully charged.
But, if our Airstreams were in a barn, the panels
would not to get any daylight. If that was the
case, I'd do what I do with two tow vehicles we
keep stored in a garage all winter. The way I keep
those batteries fully charged is with a "Battery
Saver Solar Panel" (12" x 4" x 1") that weighs
one pound. It provides 125mAmps @ 15 volts under
full sun intensity (says the ad). Whatever it
actually is during the winter in New England
is enough because both of our trucks always
start in the Spring. There is an 800 number.
USA 1-800-724-3908 or Canada 1-800-667-7652
The reason for telling you this is to suggest
either having your solar system checked out for
some component draining power while you are not
in it (an illuminated 12v clock perhaps) or
consider putting one of the "Battery Saver
Solar Panels" in an outside window of your barn
<grin> and plugging it into one of the cigarette
lighter appliances in your Airstream.
Okay, I know you don't have a barn. Bottom line
is you have "the right stuff" to easily keep your
batteries charged if your Airstream is left out
doors (and if there is nothing draining them
while you are away for a month).
There has to be a simple reason for your
batteries not being charged. What you describe as
"solar panels in shade so not working" is NOT the
way it's supposed to work. You are too far away
from me or I'd come over and check it out for you.
Let's see if anyone on this list knows of someone
near the Hemet, CA area who could help solve this.
Hugs,
Terry
