Not sure if you're missing something. As I say, I'm not sure of the "original intent" for my roof rack. It fits acceptably on my 1970 Beetle and will probably fit my 1956 oval, but I was told that my rack was probably made for a Type 3 (Squareback?). In that case (remember I said my rack has 9 slats, not 10), it maybe should have 9 slats instead of the 10 that you have. I do know, beyond a shadow of a doubt, that my rack is an ORIGINAL BeKoWa rack, made in Germany, specifically for VW. Tim Osburn, Head Mechanic, Ralph Spoilsport Motors.
