Thanks to all who responded to my plea for help. I got some good info - as I knew I would. However, after several frustrating days, I threw in the towel yesterday and had Data Doctors come out this morning and repair everything. All is right with the world now. :o)

I'm running Windows 98 (I know, I know ...). Since this morning it will only come on in "safe mode." I've restarted it numerous times. Sometimes it'll go to DOS(?) mode and, when given the choice of about seven options (although the number 3, safe mode, is highlighted) if I enter number 1 (normal mode) it usually gives me "Widows error report. You'll need to restart your computer." If that doesn't happen, it'll go right into "safe mode" and, of course, everything is large, the pictures are grainy, and all the programs run very slow. Any suggestions as how to get my computer to run in "normal mode"?
