Volks,

I’m working on a ’72 SuperBeetle (hand-me-down from a relative) , hoping
just to return it to stock, then sell it for a fair price.

After pulling all five wheels and getting them cleaned up for coating, I
discovered that nothing matches. (I suspected trouble when I found one bias
tire on it, fabricated in 1977.)

I now have:

3 4J * 15 (no offset stamped, but a “T” stamped inside, presumably meaning
“tubeless.”
1 4½J * 15 (ET34)
1 4½J * 15 (ET71)

Question: What was the stock wheel on a USA 1972 SuperBeetle? Any of
these? I’ve bought 5 new 165-80/15 Nexens but am not sure what to do here.
