Hi Interesting To me a 3 mm three pin hole flat VW emblem hood sounds like 1961 to early 1963( mid year '63 went from 3 pin flat with crest to 3 pin raised without crest and longer molding) but that would have the shorter molding and the slots for the crest but those hoods are longer .I did look in Garwoods and did find out that the 1973 :"The 113853505H hood moulding and 113853601B VW emblem were only seen on early 1973 Custom Sedans with the 1968 113823031F front hood" 1968 changes for 1968 chassis # 118000007 U.S. BIG OH --Hood change except the 1968 European standard kept the 1961type front apron and European "1200" models kept the same hood as in 1967 (Garwood) . 1968 European Standard '1200' models began to use the U.S. Type 1967 front fenders for 1968(Garwood). Hmmm have't found the European standard change to a 1968 U.S. Hood if and when? Also was a 1970 European Standard with a U.S. Style 1967 and earlier hood made with the earlier 3 pin (small pins) and flat not raised ? No definite answers but more information ! Lloyd in Eureka CA
