Aren't they called containers? Kind of like frames on a computer screen. It takes a little to get used to, but that's probably because us screen reader users are not used to having information presented to us in that way.
There's a container option in the rotor as well to jump around. It took me some time to familiarize myself with certain apps I use on both my iPad and phone since the layouts are different.
