Sorry, not sure what a badge icon is; please explain and also how do you get to it via touch?

By default it will show you the temperature as a badge icon on the home screen. To look at the forecast, just double tap the program on your home screen and when it opens it will show you the list. It uses location services to determine where you are. So if you have those enabled then it should work fine.
